[RSS Feed/News] Action when a `xf:textboxrow` loses focus

If I have a xf:textboxrow item in a custom controller page, how could I invoke some action when the textbox loses focuses and update a specific hint. Is there a "Xenforo way" to do this? Or would I use standard Javascript?
