[RSS Feed/News] Validate custom user fields

I'm struggling with Facebook and Twitter custom user fields.

Is there a way to validate and correct user input?

For example:
www.facebook.com/userid or Facebook.com/userid should be validated and corrected to https://facebook.com/userid
