Do I need an OpenAI or Anthropic account?
No. ForumBot is fully managed. Your subscription covers the AI backend. No API keys, no provider accounts.
How does my bot learn my forum's content?
After subscribing, we work with you to ingest your forum content (articles, threads, your forum's section list, or any combination) into your bot's knowledge base, and to customize your agent prompt. You provide an export, we handle the upload and configuration on the backend. The three optional KB file types are described in the overview above.
What happens to my data?
Chat logs are stored locally in your XenForo database. Queries are processed by the AI backend in real time and not retained.
Can I control who uses the bot?
Yes. ForumBot integrates with XenForo's permission system. You decide which user groups can access the chat page (guest access not supported), and @tag is supported for admins or admins and moderators.
Can members share their conversations externally?
When you enable chat sharing in AdminCP, members get a "Share chat" link in the chat panel that creates a public read-only snapshot URL of their conversation, valid for 5 days. Members manage and delete their own active shares from a sidebar link; admins review and remove all active shares from AdminCP > Logs > Shared chats. Sharing is off by default.
What if I disable chat sharing later?
Disabling immediately stops new shares from being created and the "Share chat" button disappears for members. Access to existing share URLs is paused while sharing is disabled; re-enabling restores access until each share's 5-day window expires. Admins can also remove active shares anytime from AdminCP > Logs > Shared chats.
What if I cancel?
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing period. The addon remains installed (until you uninstall it) but regardless, the bot stops responding without an active license.
