Forum Fortress: a fresh take on forum spam blocking

Designed to be more than just another blocklist. Forum Fortress checks registration, posting and profile activity to let your genuine members sail through smoothly and stop the spambots and malicious humans.
It's designed specifically for forums - to catch the edge cases, such as those posing as genuine members then quietly editing in backlinks all over your community 3 months later, or 'profile link spam' that is a daily fight for many.

Easy to set up
Forum Fortress has been designed to be simple to set up with no complicated settings. Just install the plugin - and your protection starts. Every site gets a 30 day trial of Pro before being moved to the Free tier, which is designed to offer a decent level of protection for small-to-medium sites.
No credit card, no sign up form - you don't even have to enter your email if you don't want to.

Privacy
Individual IP addresses, email addresses, usernames and domains can be checked against the public hitlist, but those items aren't publicly linked together. A lookup of an IP address isn't going to give you a list of usernames and email addresses associated with it.

Internally, Forum Fortress is largely built around scoring those individual indicators and combining the results to make a decision, rather than trying to build a profile of each forum member.

Plaintext values sent to the system are available in your portal logs and to Forum Fortress for 5 days before getting transformed to one way hashes. That gives you enough time to monitor how the system is performing on your site without us storing plaintext data any longer than needed.

We can then compare these hashes in the future to spot repeat offenders.

For communities that need the paperwork as well as the technical side, a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is available.

Multimod

Pro also includes Multimod, giving people running several communities one place to deal with reports and moderation activity across them.

It can span different forum platforms too, so it's useful if you're looking after more than just XenForo.

The Free plan isn't intended as a glorified trial. For plenty of small and medium communities it should be enough indefinitely.
