[RSS Feed/News] Text editor bug with deletion

I've had a few users reporting that:

In the post editor, when I turn on bold or italics, I can't backspace any further than the start of the bold or italic text. It's like this in both desktop Firefox and iOS.

I tried it myself and found it to be true. When you type out something bold or italics and backspace with that on it stops at where the start of that was.
